SRWI Launches Emergency Shelter Relief for Hurricane Survivors in the Caribbean

Port-au-Prince, Haiti — April 2025
In the wake of the Category 4 hurricane that devastated coastal communities across the West Indies, Sokisa Relief West Indies (SRWI) has initiated a large-scale Emergency Shelter Relief Campaign to provide urgent protection and comfort to displaced families.

With thousands of homes destroyed or uninhabitable, SRWI volunteers have been on the ground since day one—delivering tents, tarps, bedding, and temporary housing kits to affected areas. Many families, especially women and children, are now able to rest safely under protective structures as rebuilding begins.

“This isn’t just about shelter—it’s about restoring a sense of security and hope,” said SRWI’s Director of Field Operations. “We’re working family by family, block by block, ensuring no one is left out.”

Local volunteers, many of whom experienced the disaster themselves, are at the heart of the response. From setting up tents to translating for medical teams, their courage and community spirit have defined SRWI’s approach to compassionate crisis care.

In addition to shelter kits, SRWI continues to distribute essentials like clean water, food, solar lanterns, and sanitation supplies. With hurricane season far from over, the organization is calling on global supporters to help scale this effort and prepare for future emergencies.
